Yesterday I went out to search for the Harris's Sparrow down Rentenaar Road that has been seen by everyone but me and a man I met there who was on his fourth return to try to see it. Although I didn't see it, I saw a lot of other birds and even....a lifer - gasp!

We were so excited about the two uncommon lifers, that we took it as an omen to keep birding. We headed over to Smith and Bybee, a place I hadn't been since my first birding trip, just over a year ago.
